Dr. Jennifer K. Kilel is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice with over 30 years of experience in nursing, including extensive clinical and leadership roles across urgent care, family medicine, intensive care, and pediatric critical care. She is currently serving patients at MedExpress Urgent Care in Charlottesville, Virginia, providing evidence-based, compassionate care in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Dr. Kilel earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from Liberty University, and she began her nursing career with an Associate Degree in Nursing and a Higher Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing from the Kenya Medical Training College. Her global nursing experience spans healthcare systems in Kenya and the United States, with a deep foundation in critical care and patient advocacy.
Throughout her career, Dr. Kilel has worked in diverse healthcare settings, including Johnson Health Center, Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, UVA Health South Rehabilitation Hospital, and University of Virginia Children’s Hospital. Her expertise includes acute illness management, chronic disease care, urgent interventions, and leadership in both hospital and community health environments.
Dr. Kilel holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and the NIH Stroke Scale, and she is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement.
